| Video Celebrates 100 Years of Hockey
Produced as a lasting centerpiece of field hockey’s centennial celebration, the video traces the story of field hockey through a blend of narration, interviews, reenactments and rarely seen footage and photographs of collegiate, club and national team play. Earning its title from a loving phrase used by field hockey pioneer Constance Applebee to motivate her players, Hockey is a R-R-Running Game explores the people and events surrounding the sport in this country over the past 100 years. From Applebee’s introduction of the sport in the U.S. in 1901, to the founding of the United States Field Hockey Association, to the heroic performances by top National Team members the video pays tribute to the players, coaches and officials whose passion for the game created the opportunities that exist for athletes today. Produced and directed by Kathryn Lee, the video is a available through U.S. Field Hockey’s National Office for $29.95 plus $2 postage and handling.
