The game was largely dominated by the USA as reflected in the game statistics:
Goal Shots: USA 8 - Canada 4

There was a highly disputed USA equalizing goal in the 68th minute where a goal was awarded and subsequently taken away following protests from Canadian players.
"All-in-all a positive performance from the USA team," said Nick Conway, "but unfortunately we were unable to turn a dominant performance into victory."

Club an der Alster 3, USA 1
SCORING RECAP:
USA - 16' - Pat Harris, PC
Alster - 49' - Georg Schacht, FG
Alster - 57' - Georg Schacht, FG
Alster - 62' - Oliver Hentschel, PC
“This could be classified as a bump in the road,” said Nick Conway, Men's National Team Head Coach. “We were not consistent enough throughout the match to provide a favorable outcome, but this is still a good building block leading up to the upcoming series with Argentina.”
The series with Club an Der Alster leads to a four-game series with Argentina in Chula Vista next week. Both the USA and Argentina will travel to Santiago, Chile in March to participate in the 2009 Pan American Cup.
"We recognize that the important play lies ahead of us in Chile and are remaining focused on our goals for that tournament," said Conway.

Canada 2, USA 1
SCORING RECAP:
CAN - 26' - Connor Grimes (PC)
USA - 46' - Pat Harris (PC)
CAN - 50' - Wayne Fernades (PC)
The USA started the match with an intensity that allowed them to control the ball within Canada’s 25 for a majority of the first half, but Canada put the first goal on the board late in the half on a penalty corner. Pat Harries knotted the contest in the second half, but Canada pulled away just five minutes later.
“This was a lost opportunity for us, we played hard enough to get a result, created the opportunities, but was not able to execute when necessary,” says head coach Nick Conway. “I am still very encouraged by our team.”

"This is a very positive start for this group and gives us a lot to build on," said coach Nick Conway. Saturday's conetst was the first game for the Men's National Team as a full squad in almost a year.
Alster controlled the ball for most of the first half on the USA side, but the USA started the second half with a lot of intensity and seemed to have a much more calm control over the game.
"The belief in themselves was obvious with the beginning of the second half," reflected Conway. All agreed on the USA side that this is a great group that has a lot of opportunity looking into the future.
