Arranging a Make-up
If you know that you can not attend a session, contact your Site director via email as notification. Some sites are near the maximum number of participants.
You are allowed an excused absence if you miss a session due to attending an Indoor qualifier. It is also an excused absence if you team qualifies and you attend the National Indoor Tournament. Please take your attendance make-up sheet to your coach for your indoor team and turn it in to your site director so that she can document it as an excused absence. You are welcomed to make-up this session, although it is not required.
It is highly encouraged to pre-arrange make-up sessions, especially if you know that you will be missing a session. Please find a site that fits your age group, find a training session that will meet your schedule. Contact the site director (SD) of the site you wish to attend for availability of a make-up. Upon approval of the SD, attend the training session. Bring your make-up attendance form, found on-line, to the session, get it signed by the appropriate people and then return it to your “home” site director at your next session. Make-up sessions must be arranged as many sites are near the maximum number of participants.
Please note that all information is kept up to date on the web site. Answers to most questions are located here. The primary way the Futures Program communicates with you is through posting information on the regional web site and via group email that you entered into USFHA membership.
Futures Attendance Policy
Athletes are required to attend Futures sessions at the site which is assigned during the registration process. Attendance at all sessions is expected. In order to be considered for selection to the National Futures Championship, an athlete MUST attend 80% of a region’s sessions. Athletes attending 50% or less of the ten Futures sessions will not receive an invitation for the following year. Athletes attending 60% or less of the scheduled Futures sessions at the assigned site will not receive Player Evaluations at the conclusion of the Futures Program.
Emergencies and extenuating circumstances will be dealt with on an individual basis. Inquiries should be addressed to the Regional Administrative Director and the Regional Coaching Director who, in turn, will consult with the Director of Olympic and Sport Development Programs.
The Futures Development Program is designed to be covered in ten sessions. Due to the uniqueness of regions, and sites within each region, the site may cover two sessions in one day or the site may have one session a day but meet twice a month.
Athletes can have a maximum of two make up sessions. An athlete may attend a session(s) at another site if available. Distance and/or number of participants at the other site may prohibit this option so consult with your Regional Coaching Director.
USA Field Hockey’s Indoor National’s is an excused absence. Athletes may also attend one qualifier as an excused absence. The date of Indoor and the date of the qualifier are excused absences only if the date conflicts with your Futures session. These events cannot be used as a makeup session. Excused absences can be made up but are not necessary to show for the 80% required attendance. Attendance forms must be signed by the Tournament Director and returned to your assigned Site Director.
