Hi Girls-
Futures Region 1 Trial Information
The Futures Program is the Olympic Developmental Program of USA Field Hockey. The purpose of the Futures Program is to identify 'future' Olympic level athletes and to raise the level of hockey throughout the United States.
Athletes may enter the Region 1 Futures Program by:
1. Paper Trials completed by the athletes' High School, Middle School or Club Coach
2. Attending a USA Field Hockey Sanctioned Partner Camp (posted in the USFHA web-site) and meeting the camp recommendation procedures
3. Attending the USA Field Hockey H.S. Open Camp
Paper Trial Information - Due September 30, 2008
Region 1, Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont trials athletes for the Futures Program through a "Paper Trial" system. Information and trial packets are e-mailed to high school, middle school and club coaches upon request.
Paper Trial results are due via e-mail to the Regional Directors' by September 30, 2008. The trail information must be e-mailed in by the coach and not a parent or an athlete.
A $25 fee applies to all applicants.

To be considered for the Futures Program, ALL ATHLETES MUST REGISTER at the above web-site BEFORE your coach completes the testing!

YOU DO NOT NEED TO REGISTER FOR FUTURES TRYOUTS IF YOU ARE A CURRENT FUTURES PARTICIPANT WHO HAS MET THE ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENT.
TO DETERMINE YOUR AGE GROUP FOR FUTURES:
Take your age on January 1, 2009.
If you are 13 or under on January 1, 2009, then you are in the U14 age group.
If you are 14 or 15 on January 1, 2009, then you are in the U16 age group.
If you are 16 or older on January 1, 2009, then you are in the U19 age group.
ATHLETES MUST REGISTER ONLINE PRIOR TO ATTENDING THE TRYOUT.
NOTIFICATION OF TRIAL SELECTIONS
If you are selected, you will be getting information regarding registration for the Futures Program in the mail by the end of October.

As a Reminder the following is the criteria for
participation in the Futures Program:
* All futures athletes in Region I are assigned to
a local regional site based on their residency.
* Only athletes making the NFT will be assigned to
the Level I site for the following Futures season.
* As a U14 making the NFT, you will be assigned
to your local regional site.
*****All Futures athletes have the opportunity
through a recommendation process, to be moved to the
Level I site. Recommendation process is based on
Head coach and Regional Coaching Director observation
and assessment at local regional site. These
observations and assessments are done in the months
of January and February of the Futures season. *****
