Open Trial - Fall
The US Field Hockey
Association will conduct a Womens National Team Open Trial, August 28-Aug. 31, 2003
at the S Field Hockey National Training Center at Virginia Beach, Va.
The Trial is open to
all female athletes who have graduated from college or who are willing to leave school in
order to commit to a full-time residency program.
Athletes selected to
the team from the Open Trial will be expected to relocate to Virginia Beach immediately
following the trial to join the team in residency full-time.
If selected to the
Team, all athletes will receive a small Basic Grant from the USOC, USOC Elite Athlete
Health Insurance and a living stipend from the USFHA.
Athletes will also be assisted in finding housing in the area and securing
employment.
All athletes must be
current USFHA members and US Citizens to attend the trial.
Athletes must also begin the process of securing a U.S. passport
immediately, as international travel may take place in the near future.
A $75.00
participation fee is required to compete in the trial.
Make checks payable to USFHA. Athletes are responsible for travel to and
from the Trial as well as all housing and meal expenses while at the Trial.
The Open Trial
Registration Form must be completed and returned to the USFHA National Office. Full payment and proof of US Citizenship (copy
of birth certificate or picture page of passport) must accompany the registration form. Upon receipt of all registration materials,
athletes will be mailed a confirmation packet regarding the details of the Trial.

Trial participants should anticipate arriving on the afternoon of Aug. 28. The trial will
consist of 2 daily sessions Aug. 29, 30 and 31. Departures should be scheduled no earlier
than the evening of Aug. 31.
Trials
participants are responsible for all transportation to and from the Trials site, housing,
food and other expenses incurred through participation in the trials.
