2008 Coaching Application
Dear Coach:
USA Field Hockey
has begun the process of staffing our programs for the upcoming
year. Both the High Performance and Olympic Development programs
are seeking qualified candidates for coaching positions.
USA Field Hockey
will be providing regional, domestic, and international competition
for the National Squads, as well as meeting the coaching needs of
our various Olympic Development Camps. The programs, with dates
where available, are listed on the online Coaching Application.
If you are
interested in coaching in USA programs (High Performance and Olympic
Development), please complete the online Coaching Application.
Resumes can be sent electronically to
Ldarling@usafieldhocky.com
no later than December 1, 2007. Please note that in order to
participate, coaches must be members of USA Field Hockey, and must
be willing to sign the USA Coaching Ethics Code and have a
background check. Appointments will be announced in early January
2008.
Below is a brief
description of the programs and coaching positions to be staffed.
The Coaching Committee would like to see established coaches work
both the Olympic Development and High Performance programs. It is
very important to the continuity of the program to secure both
experienced coaches and coaches wishing to gain experience. In
order to be a High Performance coach, coaches must exhibit a
commitment at one of the High Performance Regional Training Centers.
The USA Field Hockey Technical Director would like for all
coaches to attend the new Coach Accreditation program starting in
2008. The first Level II course will be offered immediately
following the NFHCA Convention in Hartford, Conn. January 6 & 7,
2008. Level I courses will be held during the 2008 summer season.
Online coach education programs are also available through
www.usafieldhockey.com Coaches are encouraged to work in
Olympic Development programs to guarantee quality coaching at all
levels.
Once coaches are
selected, the appointments will be posted on the USA Field Hockey
web site,
www.usafieldhockey.com.
High Performance and Olympic Development will then notify each coach
independently with regard to specific assignments. IF YOU ARE
UNABLE TO COMMIT TO YOUR COACHING APPOINTMENT, YOU MUST CONTACT
Laura Darling, the USA Field Hockey Coaching Liaison, WITHIN THREE
WEEKS OF THE APPOINTMENT NOTIFICATION. It is assumed that coaching
appointments will be honored unless we hear otherwise.
NOTE. If you are
currently a coach in the Futures Program, you need not re-apply for
Futures. If you are interested in becoming involved in the Futures
Program, complete the application. Your information will be forward
to the Regional Coaching Director in your region who appoints the
coaches.
Coaches working
the USA Field Hockey High Performance and Olympic Development
Programs (Futures, Olympic Development Open Camps, Futures
Development Camp, High Performance Training Centers, and the Junior
National Camps) will receive a stipend for coaching. Depending
on the program, all coaches will be paid a travel allowance,
which may be full or partial. Coaches working the AAU Junior
Olympic Games will receive travel and living expenses. Coaches
working with our National Teams will receive stipends,
travel, and living expenses for domestic assignments. Coaches’
assigned international appointments will receive travel and living
expenses (no stipend).
