U.S. Womens Under-16 Team to Compete In Netherlands Tourney COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. The U.S. Women's Under-16 Field Hockey Team will look to continue a budding tradition of international success in April when the team travels to the Netherlands for an Easter Tournament in Valkenswaard. The U.S. team will be making its second straight appearance in the April 3-4 tournament in what is expected to include a top field of under-16 national and club teams from Europe and Canada. Under the direction of head coach Liz Tchou, the U.S. team placed third at the tournament last year and received the Fair Play Award for sportsmanship. Netherlands South earned the gold medal at the 1998 Easter Tournament followed by Genesis (Ireland), USA and Netherlands Middle. Tchou, a 1996 Olympian and the current head coach at Duke University, will again lead the team in the two-day tournament. Selected last summer at the AAU Junior Olympics, the U.S. Under 16-team includes Rosalinda Banuelos (Escondido, Calif.), Colleen Barbieri (Centereach, NY), Emily Susan Boyer (Oak Park, Ill.), Kelly Dostal (Hatfield, Mass.), Carey Fetting-Smith (Lutherville, Md.), Ashleigh Haas (Berwyn, Pa.), Lori Hillman (Gibbsboro, N.J.), Adrienne Horillosa (Chula Vista, Claif.), Meredith Hudson (Danvers, Mass.), Natalie Martirosian (Richmond, Va.), Alexis Martirosian (Richmond, Va.), Katy Moyneur (Escondido, Calif.), Becky Stanchina (Medford Lakes, N.J.), Lauren Stiver (Amherst, N.Y.), Amy Stopford (Hillsborough, N.C.), Katie Zacarian (Amherst, Mass.). The Under-16 team represents the first step in an athletes elite-team development process and serves to introduce young players to international competition while preparing athletes for future National Team consideration.
