COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. The U.S. Men's Under-16 Field Hockey Team will face its second round of international competition when the team hosts the U16 team from Canada, July 5-9, at the ARCO Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif. Coached by University of California-Berkeley coach Shellie Onstead, the men's U16 team went 4-3-3 placed and placed fourth at a tournament in the Netherlands in April. "We have seen some incredible progress from the past year, and I'm encouraged with their work ethic," says Onstead. "The desire is there. They know they are the future of the program." The 20-member U.S. squad participating in the series includes Kulwinder Ahluwalia (Corona, Calif.), Nick Bishnoi (Ventura, Calif.), Adam Dorn (Ventura, Calif.), Jaspal Greenwall (Laguna Niguel, Calif.), Austin Hargett (Ventura, Calif.), Patrick Harris (Moorpark, Calif.), Sean Harris (Moorpark, Calif.), Eric Hodgdon (Somers Point, N.J.), Nick Hornbeck (Camarillo, Calif.), Danny Jordan (Camarillo, Calif.), William Molenaar (Ventura, Calif.), Jaslok Rai (Rodeo, Calif.), Byron Roach (Ventura Calif.), Todd Robinson (Ventura, Calif.), Ramandeep Sandhu (Freemont, Calif.), David Schmoyer (Doyelstown, Pa.), Brandon Sherman (Moorpark, Calif.) and Forest Tym (Santa Fe, N.M.) along with goalkeepers Jeb Saez (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) and Michael Lipka (Moorpark, Calif.). Initiated in 1998, the Under-16 team represents the first step in an athletes elite-team development process and serves to introduce young players to international competition while preparing athletes for future National Team consideration.
