USA Field Hockey Announces 2007-08 Women’s Under-21 Squad

U21 Squad member Michelle Kasold is also a member of the U.S. National Team and earned a silver medal at the Pan American Games.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.  – USA Field Hockey has announced its selections to the 2007-08 U.S. Women’s Under-21 Squad following team trials at July’s Junior National Camp at Babson College.

The 28-player squad will begin its preparations for the 2008 Pan American Junior Championships in Mexico City as well as the 2009 Junior World Cup.

“We are all very excited with the squad that we selected,” said U.S. junior team coach Tracey Fuchs who led the junior team to a best-ever 7^th place finish at the 2005 Junior World Cup.  “We have a great blend of young players mixed in with a core of veterans with international experience. We will use every opportunity that we can to prepare for the Junior Pan Ams and the Junior World Cup and I am looking forward to working with a great group of players.”

The squad returns 16 members from the 2006-07 team including Kelsey Cutchins (Suffolk, Va.), Meghan Dean (Marathon, N.Y.), Katelyn Falgowski (Landenberg, Pa.), Michelle Kasold (Chapel Hill, N.C.), Paige Laytos (Lititz, Pa.), Caitlin McCurdy (Mountaintop, Pa.), Lauren Miller (Cherry Hills Village, Colo.), Brianna O’Donnell (Collegeville, Pa.), Katie O’Donnell (Blue Bell, Pa.), Lauren Pfeiffer (Mt. Laurel, N.J.), Kate Reinprecht (North Wales, Pa.), Sarah Reinprecht (North Wales, Pa.), Allison Scola (Hummelstown, Pa.), Paige Selenski (Shavertown, Pa.), Laura Suchoski (Wilkes-Barre, Pa.) and Alesha Widdall (Whitney Point, N.Y.).

Falgowski, Kasold and Katie O’Donnell are also current members of the USA National Team while Suchoski and Katie Reinprecht are members of the National Team’s developmental squad.

The newly-announced junior team also includes 2005 U21 team members Elizabeth Dazdowski (Mountaintop, Pa.) and Stephanie Hoyer (Englewood, Colo.) as well as first-time U21 selections Riley Foster (Southlake, Texas), Melissa Gonzalez (Mohegan Lake, N.Y.), Rhian Jones (Havertown, Pa.), Jacklyn Kintzer (Robesonia, Pa.), Kelsey Kolojejchick (Larksville, Pa.), Kaitlyn Perrelle (LaGrangeville, N.Y.), Tara Puffenberger (Dallas, Pa.), Michelle Vittese (Woodbury, N.J.), Meredith Way (Newmanstown, Pa.) and Meghan Wheeler (Canton, Mass.).

The USA juniors won silver medals at each of the last two Pan American Junior Championships in Bridgetown, Barbados in 2000 and San Juan, Puerto Rico in 2005. The USA earned its best-ever showing at the 2005 Junior World Cup with a seventh place finish and a team that included Brianna O’Donnell, Katie O’Donnell, Falgowski and Kasold.
