USA Field Hockey Women Place Fourth at Argentina Four Nation Tournament

Rosario, Argentina –  Kelly Doton (Greenfield, Mass.) scored the USA's only goal as Ireland outscored the USA women's national field hockey team, 3-1, in the 3rd/4th place game at the Argentina Four Nation Tournament.

Host Argentina (3-0) was set to play Olympic gold medalist Germany (2-1)  in the championship game late Sunday night.

The USA (1-3) defeated Ireland earlier in the tournament, but fell behind midway through the first half on a goal by Ireland's Suzanne Beaney in the 23rd minute. Ireland added two additional goals by Eimear Cregan and Cathy McKean after halftime to build a 3-0 lead before Doton finally put the USA on the board in the 59th minute

The tournament served as a final tune-up for the USA before the team heads to Rome for the World Cup Qualifying Tournament, April 25-May 6.

The USA will meet Ireland in a rematch in the first game of the World Cup Qualifier when the two teams meet April 25 in Rome.
