USA Field Hockey Names Terri Sawyer High Performance

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – USA
Field Hockey has named Terri Sawyer as High Performance Office Manager for
the USA Field Hockey National Training Center in Virginia Beach, Va.
In her new position, Sawyer will oversee the office logistics in
Virginia Beach, work with the Training Center facility management staff in
the scheduling of events, provide administrative support for the U.S.
coaching staff and serve as the Training Center’s liaison with the USA Field
Hockey National Office in Colorado Springs.
“I am excited about being
involved with the USA Field Hockey High Performance Programs,” said Sawyer.
“Being a former teacher and coach, it is exciting to be in an environment of
the highest level of playing and coaching in our country. Field hockey has
been a part of my life for so long, that I am glad I can continue to be
involved.”
Prior to joining the USA
Field Hockey staff, Sawyer served as a teacher in Virginia Beach for 30
years. She taught at Malibu Elementary for seven years before spending the
last 23 years as a health and physical education teacher at Frank W. Cox
High School. She coached the Cox girl’s varsity soccer team for 19 years
where she earned two Virginia Coach of the Year Honors and served three
years as the head field hockey coach at nearby Virginia Wesleyan College
where she collected an Old Dominion Athletic Conference Coach of the Year
award.
Sawyer’s service to USA Field
Hockey includes chairing the 2006 National Indoor Tournaments, acting as
Results Chair for the National Hockey Festival and serving as Team Liaison
Manager for the 2005 Rabobank Champions Challenge in Virginia Beach. She has
also coached in USA Field Hockey’s Futures Olympic Development Program.

Terri join our staff in Virginia Beach,” said USA Field Hockey Executive
Director Sheila Walker. “Her enthusiasm, love and dedication for our sport
will make her a tremendous asset for our coaches and athletes at the
Training Center.”
A graduate of Longwood
University with a Master’s Degree from Virginia Tech, Sawyer captained the
1975 field hockey team at Longwood to a No. 6 national ranking. She has been
involved with USA Field Hockey’s National Hockey Festival either as a
competitor or administrator since 1976.
