USA Field Hockey Men Even Series with Trinidad & Tobago, 3-2

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The USA Field Hockey men's national team scored two goals in the final 10 minutes to down Trinidad & Tobago 3-2 to even the three game series at one match apiece.

Game three of the series is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at the USA Field Hockey National Training Center.

Trailing 2-1 with 10 minutes left in the game, the USA pulled even on Binh Hoang's (Westlake, Calif.) second goal of the game and then took the lead when Pat Harris (Moorpark, Calif.) scored on a penalty corner with eight minutes left in the game.

Harris' goal was enough for the USA as goalkeeper Jason Wellings and the U.S. defense held on for the win.

After dropping the first game of the series with a 3-2 loss, the USA once again found itself in a hole early in the game when Trinidad & Tobago's Kiel Murray scored on a field goal just five minutes into the contest.

The USA answered in the 18th minute when Hoang scored the first of his two goals to even the score at 1-1.

Trinidad & Tobago wasted no time in responding however as Dwane Quan Chan connected on a field goal one minute later to give his team a 2-1 halftime edge.

Trinidad & Tobago maintained the edge throughout the second half until Hoang and Harris provided the late-match heroics for the USA.

The series is a warm-up for Trinidad & Tobago before the team competes in the Central America and Caribbean Games field hockey tournament, July 20-29 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
