USA Field Hockey Selects Women's Indoor Pan American Cup Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - USA Field Hockey has selected its 12-member women's team for the 3rd Indoor Pan American Cup, Dec. 8-11 in Kitchener, Ontario.

The Indoor Pan Am Cup serves as the continental qualifier for the 2nd Indoor World Cup, Feb. 14-18, 2007 in Vienna, Austria. The winner of the Pan Am event is scheduled to qualify for the Indoor World Cup.

Selections to the team include 1988 USA Olympic goalkeeper Donna Chung (Canton, Mass.), 2002 USA World Cup team members Jill Dedman (Orange, Conn.) and Tara Jelley (San Diego, Calif.), 2001-02 Northeastern Univ. All-American Sarah Broderick (Harwich, Mass.), indoor squad veteran Sandra Cook (Festerville, Pa.), former Univ. of Connecticut all-region selection Meredith Kirkpatrick (Cambridge, Mass.), current USA National Team member and Princeton Univ. head coach Kristen Holmes-Winn (Princeton, N.J.), 1983 West Chester All-American Debbie Phillips (West Chester, Pa.), Tufts Univ. head coach Tina McDavitt (Boston, Mass.), former USA National Team member and Ohio Univ. All-American Lauren Mazziotto (Sewell, N.J.), former Boson Univ. All-America East selection Jen Nixon-Mathis (Dorchester, Mass.) and Drexel Univ. head coach Denise Zelenak (Wilmington, Del.).

The team is coached by former Canadian National Team member and current Northeastern Univ. assistant coach  Scott Smith and Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School head coach Amy Wood.

The USA will meet teams from Canada, Trinidad & Tobago and Brazil in the tournament. The USA placed third in the inaugural Indoor Pan Am Cup in 2002 and did not compete in the two-team 2nd Indoor Pan Am event in 2004.
