USA Field Hockey U21 Women Down Barbados, 6-0, at Pan Am Junior Championships

San Juan, Puerto Rico — Lauren Crandall (Doyelstown, Pa.), Katie O'Donnell (Blue Bell, Pa.) and Katie Grant (Lehighton, Pa.) scored two goals each to lift the USA Under-21 team to a 6-0 victory over Barbados at the Pan american Junior Championships.

The win lifts the USA to 2-0 at the tournament while Barbados falls to 1-1.

The USA women jumped out ot an early lead as Grant opened the scoring in the 4th minute and added her second gaol at the 21-minute mark for a 2-0 USA lead. Crandall added to the lead one minute later with a penalty corner goal at the 22nd minute mark  for a 3-0 halftime lead.

O'Donnell opened the scoring three minutes into the second half with a field goal before Crandall converted a penalty stroke at the 47 minute mark. O'Donnell concluded the scoring with a field goal in the last minute of the game.

The tournament serves as a qualifying event for the Women's Junior World Cup scheduled for Sept. 14-25 in Santiago, Chile. The top three teams from the tournament, as well as Junior World Cup host Chile, will qualify for September's event.

The USA returns to action on Saturday against rival Canada.
