Argentina tops USA Field Hockey women in Three Nation Final
Colorado Springs - Argentina scored three second half goals to
defeat the USA Women's Field Hockey Team, 3-0, in the final of a
three-nation tournament in Buenos Aires.
After going into halftime tied at 0-0, Argentina's Soledad Garica finally
put the host nation on the board in the 46th minute of play.
The world's
second-ranked team, Argentina added two more goals in the final ten minutes
by Luciana Aymar and Marine Russo to clinch the tournament title.
The USA
advanced to the three-nation final with a 4-1 victory over Chile earlier in
the tournament.
The tournament
marked the final international event of 2005 for the USA women as the team
prepares for the World Cup Qualifying Tournament April 26-May 7, 2006 in
Rome.
