Angie Loy's fifth goal of the
series gave the USA a 2-1 win over Canada. |
Virginia Beach,
Va.
– Kelsey Keeran (Columbus,
Ohio) and Angie Loy (Loysville, Pa.) scored goals to lead the USA
Field Hockey women's national team to a 2-1 win over Canada in game
four of a six-game series at the USA Field Hockey National Training
Center.
The USA leads the test series with a 3-0-1 record.
A 2004 All-American at Univ. of North Carolina, Keeran put
the USA on the scoreboard first with a field goal in the 22nd minute to
register her first career international goal.
After a dominant first half, the USA appeared to be headed
into halftime with a 1-0 lead until, Canada's Robin Leslie-Spencer scored on
a break away at the 33-minute mark to deadlock the game at halftime.
In the second half, Loy struck for her fifth goal of the
series midway through the period when she scored on a well-executed penalty
corner to regain the lead for the USA.
U.S. keeper Amy Tran shut out the visitors the rest of the
game to give the USA the victory.
The USA/Canada series continues
with Game 4 at 7 p.m. Saturday at the USA Field Hockey
National Training Center in Virginia Beach.
