USA Field Hockey Women,
Australia play to 1-1 Draw in Series Finale
Virginia Beach, Va.
– The USA Field Hockey national team played to
a 1-1 draw with long-time rival Australia in the final game of a four-match
series at the USA Field Hockey National Training Center.
After a scoreless first half, Tiffany Snow (Escondio,
Calif.) put the USA on top with her fourth goal of the series in the 42nd
minute. Snow's field goal gave the USA only a brief advantage however as
Teneal Attard answered for Australia just two minutes later as USA
goalkeeper Amy Tran and Australia keeper Toni Cronk kept the game scoreless
throughout the rest of regulation play.
The draw was the second of the series between the two
teams, after the world's No. 3 ranked Australians and the 10th ranked
Americans settled for a 3-3 tie in game one in Virginia Beach. Australia won
games two and three 4-0 and 4-2.
The series continued the USA's preparations for next
month's Rabobank Champions Challenge, July 8-16 in Virginia Beach. England, Japan, New Zealand, South Africa
and Spain will join the USA in one of the International Hockey Federation's
premier events.
