STX Named Official Supplier to USA Field Hockey, Equipment Grant Program

Colorado Springs, Colo. – USA Field Hockey has announced an agreement with STX by designating the Baltimore-based field hockey stick, equipment and apparel manufacturer as an official supplier to USA Field Hockey and the official stick and shin guard supplier of the USA Field Hockey’s Equipment Grant Program.

“STX is thrilled to partner with USA Field Hockey as an Official National Supplier and in support of the USA Field Hockey Grant Program,” said STX Field Hockey Product Manager Joanna Lignelli. “We share a common goal to grow field hockey at the grass roots level, and to work closely with USA Field Hockey in that effort is an exciting opportunity for us. STX looks forward to the day when the field hockey seeds planted today blossom into gold for the USA in the future.

The USA Field Hockey Equipment Grant program provides assistance to new and developing field hockey grass roots programs through the distribution of field hockey sticks, balls, protective gear and other necessary equipment. Through the agreement, STX will be the official stick and shin guard supplier for the program through 2008.

“USA Field Hockey is committed to the development of the sport field hockey, and we are extremely please to partner with STX in providing equipment and playing opportunities to players at all levels of the game,” said USA Field Hockey Executive Director Sheila Walker. “STX is widely known for the attention the company places on the needs of field hockey players, and we are very grateful that this commitment extends to even the youngest of our athletes.”

Located in Baltimore, STX established itself as an innovator in sports equipment in 1970 when the company developed the first synthetic lacrosse stick. With a world-wide reputation for quality lacrosse equipment, the company has since grown to include the production of a full line of field hockey equipment including cutting-edge composite sticks and shin guards that enable players to reach peak performance on the field while elevating the standard of play.

USA Field Hockey is the National Governing Body for the sport of field hockey in the United States as recognized by the United States Olympic Committee, the International Hockey Federation (FIH) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC). As such, USA Field Hockey is responsible for the training and selection of athletes for international competition as well as the promotion and development of the game of field hockey in the United States.
