USA Field Hockey Men's Under-18 Team Sweeps British Columbia

Colorado Springs, Colo. - The USA Field Hockey men's under-18 team secured a three-game sweep of a British Columbia U18 team during a weekend series in Vancouver.

The U.S. team swept the series 2-1, 3-0 and 6-4 as coach Nick Conway continues to prepare a team for the 2009 Junior Pan American Championships and the 2009 Junior World Cup.

U.S. senior national team member Richie Jordan (Camarillo, Calif.), led the USA with three goals while Jonathan Ginolfi (Moorpark, Calif.), Jed Cunningham (Moorpark, Calif.), Ryan Sundeen (Simi Valley, Calif.) and Manny Martinez (Lakeside, Calif.) added two goals each. Goalkeeper Oli Standing (Camarillo, Calif.) earned all three victories in the USA cage.

Athletes named to the U.S. team for the British Columbia series included Cunningham, Ginolfi, Jordan, Martinez, Standing, Sundeen, Alex Grassi (Brookville, Md.), Michael Hawkins (Ventura, Calif.), Will Holt (Camarillo, Calif.) Asavir Kalla (Cupertino, Calif.), Evan Lucanish (Thousand Oaks, Calif.), Grant Mohr (Ventura, Calif.), Chris Niles (Camarillo, Calif.), Jignesh Padhir (Huntington Beach, Calif.), Viren Padhir (Fountain Valley, Calif.) and Ryan Shaw (Westlake Village, Calif.).
