USA Field Hockey National Hockey Festival Continues in Palm Beach County

WELLINGTON, Fla. – Field hockey teams in the 189-team high school-aged division positioned themselves for pool championships Friday as the teams head into Saturday’s deciding games at USA Field Hockey’s National Hockey Festival at the Palm Beach Polo Club.

The world’s largest field hockey event, the Festival features 3,800 athletes and teams from 23 states and Canada competing for championships in 22 age group pools and two adult divisions.

Undefeated and untied (4-0) squads heading into the age division final day include U19 teams Hudson Valley (N.Y.), Mystx Storm (Pa.), Pocono (Pa.) Shore (Mass.) and Thoroughbreds (N.Y.) well as U16 teams New Heights Red (N.J.),Seacost United White (N.H.) and Xcalibur Silverhawks (Pa.)

While the age-group divisions conclude Saturday, action in the women’s open and mixed division turns to the crossover rounds as teams battle for positions in Sunday’s final championship games. Defending champion Red Rose and nine-time women’s open winners Holland Tunnel (5-0) both remained undefeated through pool play on Friday as they outscored their opponents by a combined 49-3.

USA Field Hockey is the national governing body for the sport in the United States as recognized by the United States Olympic Committee, the International Hockey Federation and the International Olympic Committee. In addition to promoting and developing the sport, USA Field Hockey is responsible for the training and selection of field hockey athletes for participation in the Olympic Games, Pan American Games, World Cup and other international competitions.
