Names 2004-05 Women’s U16 Team
COLORADO SPRINGS,
Colo. – USA Field Hockey Association welcomed the newest members of its
international elite teams following the selection of the 2004-05 U.S.
Women's Under-16 Squad.
Selected by USA
Field Hockey as a result of performances at the AAU Junior Olympic
Games, the team will have the opportunity to compete in international
events during the upcoming year. Now in its eighth year as a USA Field
Hockey program, the U16 team traditionally competes in the annual
Netherlands Easter Tournament in Valkenswaard.
The 2004-05
squad features three repeat selections from the 2003-04 team including
Michelle Drummonds (Elkton, Md.), Hollis Barber (Toledo, Ohio) and
goalkeeper Samantha Nelson (Rockville, Md.).
The roster also
includes Janna Anctil (Wolfboro, N.H.), Devon Burnley (Lancaster, Pa.),
Hannah Cohen (Durham, N.C.), Katherine Donner (San Diego, Calif.), Julia
Garrison (Virginia Beach, Va.), Lauren Greenwald (Carlsbad, Calif.),
Hannah Hess (Ephrata, Pa.), Kelsey Kolojejchick (Larksville, Pa.),
Kimberly Krzyk (Seaville, N.J.), Katie Reinprecht (North Wales, Pa.),
Zara Daydjari (Skowhegan, Maine), Paige Selenski (Shavertown, Pa.) and
Taylor Swezey (Ambler, Pa.).
Alternates to
the squad include Kelsey Amy (Sweet Valley, Pa.), Erin Conrad
(Wilkes-Barre, Pa.), Rayell Heistand (Hamburg, Pa.), Tara Jennings
(Macungie, Pa.), Kari Keivens (San Diego, Calif.) and Kristen Walther
(Newark, Del.).
Current James
Madison Univ. coach and 1996 Olympian Antoinette Lucas will serve as
head coach of the young USA squad.
The Under-16
Team serves to introduce young players to international competition
while preparing athletes for future National Team consideration. In
addition to the Under-16 team, the U.S. Field Hockey Association will
sponsor an Under-23 Team, Under-20 Team and the U.S. National Team in
2003. Trials for the junior national teams are conducted at A Camp, Jan.
27-31 at Chula Vista, Calif., while open trials for the U.S. National
Team were conducted Aug. 12-14 in Virginia Beach.
The USA Field
Hockey is the National Governing Body for men’s and women’s field hockey
in the United States, and is responsible for the training and
preparation of teams to participate in the Olympic and Pan American
Games and for the promotion and development of the sport throughout the
United States.
