USA Field Hockey Signs Founders Inn as Official Futures Tournament Hotel, Sponsor

Colorado Springs, Colo. (May 18, 2004) – Benchmark Hospitality property Founders Inn has signed as an official event sponsor and official hotel for USA Field Hockey’s National Futures Tournament in Virginia Beach, Va.

“We are proud to host USA Field Hockey here in Virginia Beach,” said  Mike Kennedy, director of sales and marketing for The Founders Inn. :The National Futures Tournament supports the growth and future of the sport for our nation’s athletes, and we’re pleased to be associated with such a positive program.”

Under the two-year agreement, The Founders Inn will provide USA Field Hockey with special room rates for athletes and families attending the National Futures Tournament. The sponsorship also provides additional accommodations and discounted services for the administration of the tournament, receptions, dinners and other tournament-related events.

“The Founders Inn has been a major supporter of USA Field Hockey ever since the National Training Center was established in Virginia Beach,” said USA Field Hockey Executive Director Sheila Walker. “It has truly become the Virginia Beach home for USA Field Hockey Futures athletes, family and fans, and we are extremely pleased to have them as a sponsor and official hotel of the National Futures Tournament.”

Held each year over the Fourth of July weekend, the National Futures Tournament showcases the top 600 athletes selected from USA Field Hockey’s 4200-athlete National Futures Program. The program, designed to identify promising field hockey athletes as potential Olympians, provides additional monthly training sessions for participants from January through May before culminating in the National Tournament. The 2004 event is scheduled for June 30-July 4.

The Founders Inn is managed by Benchmark Hospitality, an international hospitality management company based in The Woodlands, Houston, Texas. Additional information and reservations are available at www.foundersinn.com or by calling 1-800-926-4466.
