Open Tryouts for A Camp set for Festival

As part of the junior and senior national team selection process, USA Field Hockey will once again conduct open tryouts for athletes seeking selection to A-Camp during the 2004 Hockey Festival, Nov. 25-28, in Palm Beach County, FL.

Open to athletes who have completed high school, tryouts at the Festival represent the final opportunity of the year for athletes to be selected to A-Camp. High school players are not eligible for selection to A-Camp at the Hockey Festival. The 2004 Women’s Under-19 and Under-21 Teams will be selected at A-Camp.  Recommendations for selection to a Residency Squad Trial (for athletes 21 and older) will also be made at A-Camp.

Athletes wishing to stand for selection at the Festival should email a letter to the USA Field Hockey national office indicating the following information: 1) the name of their Festival team; 2) the festival division in which the team will compete; 3) game jersey number; 4) position (field player or goalkeeper); 5) name, address, phone number, age and date of birth; 6) College, University or Club. Information should be emailed to Kate Reisinger at katereisinger@usfieldhockey.com by Nov. 15, 2004.

Any athlete selected to attend A-Camp from tryouts at the Hockey Festival will be notified by Dec. 10, 2004. A Camp is scheduled for Jan. 14-17 in Virginia Beach, Va. Athletes will be financially responsible for the A Camp fee and travel.

Athletes standing for selection at the Hockey Festival will receive no further correspondence from USA Field Hockey prior to the Hockey Festival. The subjective evaluation of match play will be the sole tool used by the selectors. Athletes will not receive any type of written or verbal evaluation of their Hockey Festival play from the USA Field Hockey selectors.
