US Field Hockey Women Draw With
Chile, 3-3, in Series Final
Santiago The Chilean women's
national team scored the game tying score with nine minutes to play to salvage a 3-3 draw
with the United States in the final game of a three game series.
The U.S. won the
first two games of the series, 3-2, and 2-0.
The U.S. jumped out to an early 3-0 lead on a pair of goals by Tracey Fuchs and Tara
Jelley, before Chile's Camilla Infante put the home team on the board with a penalty
corner goal with two minutes left in the half.
The USA's Dina Rizzo
added a field goal a minute later to give the U.S. a 3-1 lead, but Infante connected on
her second penalty corner score as time expired to pull Chile to within 3-2 at halftime.
After the two teams went scoreless through much of the second half, Daniela Infante
connected on a field goal at the 61 minute mark for the game's final score to tie the game
at 3-3.
The U.S. will now
travel to Buenos Aires for a game with world champion Argentina and a pair of games with
the Argentina "B" squad. The U.S. concludes its tour in Rosario with two games
against Argentina.
