US Field Hockey Women Shut Out Chile,
2-0
Santiago Tracey Fuchs scored
two goals and goalkeeper Amy Tran recorded the shutout as the U.S. women's national field
hockey team blanked Chile, 2-0, in the second game of their three game series.
Fuchs
converted on a penalty stoke in the 30th minute, and added a penalty corner in the 44th
minute to lift the U.S. to the win. Tran earned the complete game shutout in goal for the
U.S. to add to the three shutouts she earned at the 2001 Pan American Cup.
Game three of the three game series is scheduled for Saturday in Santiago.
Following the Chile series, the U.S. team is scheduled to travel to Buenos Aires for a
game with world champion Argentina and a pair of games with the Argentina "B"
squad. The U.S. concludes its tour in Rosario with two games against Argentina.
The U.S. tour of Chile and Argentina is warm-up for this summer's Pan
American Games, Aug. 2-13, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The U.s. will join
Argentina and Chile at the Pan American Games to decide the automatic continental
qualifier for the 2004 Olympic Games.
