US Field Hockey Names Mens Pan
American Games Team
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. U.S. Field
Hockey has announced the 16-member mens team to compete for the United States at the XIV Pan
American Games, Aug. 2-13, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Selections to the
team are subject to approval by the United States Olympic Committee (USOC).
Head coach Shiv
Jagdays U.S. roster features five
returning members from the 1999 Pan American Games including Jang Badhesha (Santa Clara, Calif.), Rinku Bhamber (Simi Valley, Calif.), Patrick Cota (Camarillo, Calif.), Shawn Hindy (Westlake Village, Calif.) and Shawn Nakamura (Camarillo, Calif.). Badhesha. Bhamber,
Cota and Nakamura made their U.S. senior team debuts at
the 1999 Games, while Hindy led the team in scoring at the tournament with 3 goals. The U.S. placed 5th

In addition to the U.S. veterans, the team
features some of U.S. Field Hockeys brightest young stars including
eighteen-year-old Pat Harris (Moorpark, Calif.) and sixteen-year-old

team in February. A member of the U.S. U16 team for the past two years, Kundi will be
looking to make his first senior team appearance at the Pan Am Games.

appearances at the Pan Am Games, Jarred Martin (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) led the team in
scoring at Mays Pan American Cup Qualifier with 10 goals, while Ian Scally (Thousand Oaks, Calif.), Daraspreet Kainth (Fullerton, Calif.) and David Schmoyer (Doyelstown, Pa.) also collected goals
in leading the U.S. team to a second
place finish.
The U.S. team selections also
include Koijan Kainth (Fullerton, Calif.), Arjan Reyatt (Brea, Calif.), Daljeet Sagoo (Fullerton, Calif.) and goalkeepers
Jason Wellings (Moorpark, Calif.) and Jeb Saez (Thousand Oaks, Calif.).
Alternates to the team
include Ramandeep Sandhu (Camarillo, Calif.), Malachi Mahan (Camarillo, Calif.), Sean Harris (Moorpark, Calif.) and Chris Terrebonne
(Glendale, Calif.).
The U.S. will begin play in
Pool A with tournament favorite Argentina, Chile and host Dominican Republic. Pool B features
defending champion Canada, Cuba, Barbados and Trinidad &
Tobago. The U.S. men open play with
the first game of the tournament against Chile at 8:30 a.m. on August 2.
The winner of the Pan Am
Games earns the continents automatic berth in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.
The U.S. mens Pan Am
history includes bronze medals in 1967, 1987, 1991 and 1995.
