U.S. Field Hockey Executive Director
Amy Frankenstein Resigns
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. The U.S. Field Hockey
Association announced on Wednesday that Executive Director Amy Frankenstein has resigned.
Frankenstein headed the sport of field hockeys governing body since March, 2001.
Im very happy about the things
weve accomplished, and I hope the organization will continue to do good things for
the sport and its athletes," said Frankenstein. "But over the past few months,
I've made a decision that it is time for me to move on."
During her tenure as
executive director, the U.S. womens team
began its residency program at the U.S. Field Hockey National Training Center in Virginia Beach in 2001, and the team
climbed from #11 in the international rankings to a #9 finish at the 2002 World Cup. She
gained additional support for the Association from the U.S. Olympic Committee while
orchestrating the purchase of the Associations new office headquarters in Colorado Springs and negotiating the U.S. womens
teams World Cup qualifying procedure in 2002.
We want to thank Amy
for her effort on behalf of the Association, said U.S. Field Hockey President,
Sharon Taylor. She has shown great support for the ideals and goals of U.S. Field
Hockey, and we appreciate all she has done to move us toward those goals.
Taylor said the Association
would move quickly to fill the executive director position.
