US National Team, U19 Men to Compete at Cal Cup

Moorpark, Calif. - Shawn Hindy scored a goal at the end of each half to help lift a combined USA U19/Men's National Team to a 3-1 win over Mexico in a pre-Cal Cup friendly.

            After Mexico took a 1-0 lead in the 19th minute, Hindy scored the first of his goals off a penalty corner with no-time remaining in the first half to tie the game at 1-1 at halftime.

            Shawn Nakamura supplied the game-winning goal midway through the second half with a peanlty corner in the 54th minute. Hindy concluded the scoring with the final play of the game on another penalty corner as time expired.

            The match was a warm-up for the California Cup, May 24-27 at Moorpark. Two U.S. Field Hockey teams, the Under-19 Bears and the National team Eagles, will join Mexico in the 7-team Super Division at the Cal Cup.
