US Field Hockey Men Defeat Mexico, 3-0, Remain Undefeated at 4-Nation Tournament

Colorado Springs, Colo.Jarred Martin scored two goals as the United States men’s field hockey team remained undefeated with  a 3-0 win over host Mexico at the four nation tournament in Salamanica.

In the other game of the tournament, Cuba pounded Venezuela, 17-1.

Martin opened the scoring early in the game when he converted  a penalty corner in the sixth minute, and added to the U.S. lead with a field goal just after halftime. Fifteen-year old Sean Harris (Moorpark, Calif.) scored his second goal in as many days with a field goal in the 49th minute to cap the U.S. scoring. Harris was added to the traveling squad just days before the team was scheduled to leave for Mexico following an injury to veteran Jang Bhadesha.

Goalkeeper Jeb Saez (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) recorded the shutout in his first official international match.

The  U.S. was scheduled to meet Cuba for the tournament championship on Sunday.
