Cuba Tops US Field Hockey Men for 4-Nation Tournament Title

Colorado Springs, Colo.Cuba scored six unanswered goals to top the U.S. men’s field hockey team, 8-2, and capture the title at the Mexico Four Nation Tournament in Salamanica.

The U.S. placed second in the tournament while Mexico defeated Venezuela, 5-0, for third place.

Both teams scored in the first two minutes of play as the teams traded goals for a 2-2 draw after an opening 20 minutes to start the game.  Jarred Martin (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) and Daraspreet Kainth (Fullerton, Calif.) scored for the U.S., but Jose Garcia added the second of his three goals in the 21st minute to spark Cuba on to three quick goals and a 5-2 halftime lead.
