US Field Hockey Men's Indoor Squad Named

Colorado Springs (Sept. 3) -- The U.S. Field Hockey Association has named its men's national indoor squad for 2003 following trials held Aug. 23-25 in Richmond, Va.
   The U.S. will compete in the inaugural International Hockey Federation Indoor World Cup, Feb. 6-9, 2003 in Leipzig, Germany. U.S. Field Hockey and indoor coach Billy McPherson will select a 12-player team from the 17-member squad to compete at the Indoor World Cup.
   The squad features 10 members from the team that placed second at the first Indoor Pan American Cup to earn the U.S. its spot in the Indoor World Cup. Returing to the team are Jeremy Cook (Washington, D.C.), Pat Cota (Camarillo, Calif.), Steve Danielson (San Diego, Calif.), Andrew Duncan (Honolulu, Hawaii), Pat Harris (Moorpark, Calif.), Peter Jones (Stamford, Conn.), Ryan Langford (Camarillo, Calif.), Olaf Maack (San Diego, Calif.), Gus Reed (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Chris Terrebonne (Oxnard, Calif.).
  New additions to the squad include U.S. Field Hockey outdoor national team members Shawn Hindy (Westlake Village, Calif.) and goalkeeper Jason Wellings (Detroit, Mich.) along with Chuck Carney (Jamaica, Mass.), Daniel Dion, Greg Nathan (Del Mar, Calif.), David Sculley (Cambridge, Mass.) and Don Warner (Richmond, Va.).
   At the Indoor World Cup, the U.S. will join men's teams from the Czech Republic, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Poland, France, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and South Africa.
  The U.S. women, represented by the U.S. under-23 team, placed third at the Indoor Pan American Cup and did not qualify for the Indoor World Cup.
