England Tops US U21 as Teams Head for
Junior World Cup
College Park, Md. -- England scored two first half
goals and added an insurance tally in the second half to beat the USA Under-21 team, 3-0,
in a pre-Junior World Cup practice match.. The game marked the final practice opportunity
for the two teams before heading to Buenos Aires for the start of the 4th Women's Junior
World Cup, May 14.
Rachel Walsh started the scoring for England in the 7th minute on a penalty
corner before Annalisa Bishop added a field goal at the 32nd minute mark to give England a
2-0 halftime lead. Emogen Robertson completed the scoring in the 67th minute with her
third goal of the series.
The USA will open the Junior World Cup on May 14 in the tournament's
first game against New Zealand. The US will also face India and defending Junior World Cup
champion The Netherlands in their initial pool play. Considered one of the favorites in
Pool D, England opens tournament play on May against Canada before meeting Russia on May
16 and Korea on May 18.
