U.S. Field Hockey Names Ashley
Collier Director of High Performance; Promotes Kate Roberts to Assistant Director Colorado Springs, Colo. -The United States Field Hockey
Association has named Ashley Collier Director of High Performance, and promoted former
High Performance Manager Kate Roberts to Assistant Director of High Performance.
As Director of High Performance, Collier will oversee all facets of US Field
Hockey's men's and women's elite team programs including planning and coordinating team
trials, training sessions and competitions. " I am very excited about continuing the work at US Field Hockey," said Collier. "It is a wonderful opportunity, and I'm anxious to help the organization prepare our athletes for national and international competition." Scheduled to begin her duties June 1,
Collier joins U.S. Field Hockey after previously serving as the Director of Competition
and Training for Special Olympics Minnesota. Additionally, she worked on the basketball
venue staff during the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games and served on the local organizing
committee for the inaugural NCAA Women's Hockey Championships Frozen Four in Minneapolis
in 2001. Collier is a 1995 graduate of the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
" I believe Ashley and Kate will be a wonderful combination for our high
performance programs," said U.S. Field Hockey Executive Director Amy Frankenstein.
"Ashley brings us a fresh approach with an impressive administrative and sports
management background, while Kate has extensive experience coordinating our elite team
programs."
A member of the U.S. Field Hockey staff since 1999, Roberts assumes new
responsibilities as Assistant Director of High Performance where she will assist with the
development and implementation of the men's and women's elite team programs. In her residency program in Virginia Beach,
Va. and coordinated team tours to the First Men's Americas Cup in Cuba and the Women's
Junior Pan American Championships in Barbados. In addition, Roberts has led the U.S. teams
on tours of England, The Netherlands, Korea and Spain.
"We have a very exciting schedule this year, and I'm really happy to be a part
of it, " said Roberts, a 1998 graduate of the University of New Hampshire. "We
have our women's team beginning their new residency program, our Under-21 women at the
Junior World Cup and our men's and women's senior team's competing at the World Cup
Qualifiers. It's a big year and a big job. I'm just excited to keep it going."
The United States Field Hockey Association is the national governing body for
womens and mens field hockey in the United States and is responsible for the
promotion and development of the sport throughout the country. U.S. Field Hockey trains
and prepares team to participate in international competitions such as the Olympic Games
and International Hockey Federation World Cup.
