1st Americas Cup Schedule Revised

The Pan American Hockey Federation has revised the schedule for the 1st Americas Cup, March 8-18 in Kingston, Jamaica.

The revision follows the withdrawal of Barbados from the tournament, and leaves the inagural event with an eight-team field. Cuba and Chile withdrew from the tournament earlier in the month, while Bermuda accepted a late invitation.

The two-pool format will include Argentina, Canada, Mexico and Venezulea in Pool A with Bermuda, Jamaica, Uruguay and the United States in Pool B.

The winner of the Americas Cup earns an automatic berth to the 2002 FIH World Cup in Perth, Australia. The next highest placing teams at the tournament are expected to earn invitations to the World Cup Qualifying Tournament, Sept 18-30 in Abbeville, France.
