Colorado Springs, Colo. -The United States Field Hockey Association has named Amy Frankenstein (Frank-en-steen) as its new executive director effective April 1. As the chief administrator for the sport's national governing body, Frankenstein will direct the programs of U.S. Field Hockey through the Association's volunteer leadership and professional staff.

"I am very excited about this opportunity," said Frankenstein. "I have been fortunate to work with many different sports throughout my career, and I'm anxious to put this experience to work in a great organization like U.S. Field Hockey.

Frankenstein, 47, joins U.S. Field Hockey after previously serving as Assistant Director of Championships for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). At the NCAA, Frankenstein directed operations for six national championships and served as the NCAA representative to U.S. Field Hockey's Board of Directors. She is a former Associate Commissioner of the Midwestern Collegiate Conference, Assistant Commissioner of the Eastern College Athletic Conference and Director of Athletics at Coe College.

"On every level, we are just so pleased Amy is coming to U.S. Field Hockey," said U.S. Field Hockey President Sharon Taylor. "She is an outstanding administrator, but she is also a real humanist in working with associates, volunteers, staff and the public. We couldn't be happier."

A graduate of Springfield (Mass.) College, Frankenstein received her Master' s Degree in Administration of Health, Physical Education, Athletics and Recreation from Springfield in 1979.Frankenstein and her husband, Marc, will relocate to Colorado Springs, the site of the U.S. Field Hockey national office.

Frankenstein replaces former U.S. Field Hockey Executive Director Jane Betts, who retired from the position in December.

The United States Field Hockey Association is the national governing body for women’s and men’s field hockey in the United States and is responsible for the promotion and development of the sport throughout the country.
