1901 Constance Applebee presents a hockey exhibition at Harvard
1907 Philadelphia hockey league formed
1908 Men’s field hockey first played at the London Olympic Games (U.S. does not compete)
1920 Philadelphia area team members tour England as first USA based team to compete internationally
1922 United States Field Hockey Association formed in Philadelphia with unanimous approval of constitution
1922 First U.S. national team selected at the National Tournament in Philadelphia
1923 Constance Applebee opens Tegawitha Hockey Camp in Mt. Pocono, PA, the first field hockey camp in the U.S.
1924 First USA touring team competes in England
1924 USA Field Hockey Umpiring Committee begins rating officials
1927 International Federation of Women’s Field Hockey established with USA as charter member
1927 Germantown Cricket Club meets Westchester Biltmore in the first recorded game of men's field hockey in the United States
1928 Men's field hockey in the United States is organized with the founding of the Field Hockey Association of America
1930 field Hockey Association of America joins the Federation International de Hockey (FIH)
1932 U.S. Men make first Olympic appearance, earning a bronze medal in Los Angeles
1942 U.S. Field Hockey international activities suspended during World War II
1962 USA women solidify their place among the world's elite with a 2-2 draw with England in front of 56,000 spectators at Wembley Stadium
1963 U.S. Field Hockey Assoc. hosts 1963 International Federation of Woemn's Hockey Conference and Tournament at Goucher College, Towson, Md.
1967 Men's field hockey included in the Pan American Games; USA men capture the bronze medal
1974 First Women’s World Cup
1975 West Chester defeats Ursinus 2-1 in penalty strokes in the inaugural Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) college championship in Harrisonburg, Va.
1979 USA Women place third at the IFWHC World Championship in British Columbia. The tournament would mark the final championship for the women's international federation.
1980 Women’s Field Hockey added to the Olympic Games, U.S. Teams do not compete following the boycott of the Moscow Games.
1980 U.S. Field Hockey conducts first National Indoor Tournament
1981 NCAA passes a full governance plan for women's athletics; University of Connecticut hosts the first NCAA Field Hockey Championship
1981 The National Tournament becomes the National Hockey Festival with the introduction of club and high school divisions
1983 After decades of competing in the IFWHC Tournament, the USA women make their first FIH World Cup (6th) appearance in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
1984 U.S. Women win bronze medal at the Los Angeles Olympic Games.
1987 Women's field Hockey added to the Pan American Games. USA women earn a silver medal in Indianapolis.
1993 FHAA and U.S. Field Hockey Assoc. merge and are recognized as the United States Field Hockey Association - the single national governing body for the sport of field hockey.
1993 USA hosts the FIH Women's Intercontinental Cup at Villanova Univ.
1994 USA Women earn the bronze medal at the World Cup in Dublin, Ireland
1996 USA Women (5th) and Men (12th) play host to the Centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta
2003 USA Men compete in the 1st FIH Indoor World Cup (11th)
2005 USA Women (5th) host the 3rd Champions Challenge in Virginia Beach
