USA Field Hockey welcomes you into our coaching community for the Futures Program.  The strength and effectiveness of Futures is a direct result of the coaching at each Futures site.  Your coaching talents and dedication to develop our youth is appreciated.  Thank you very much for your involvement and commitment to the sport.

Terry Walsh is USA Field Hockey’s Technical Director and is directing the technical development of our coaches and athletes throughout the Olympic Pipeline.  Terry provides each Futures coach with an exceptional online, video active curriculum.  The National curriculum is based on 10 sessions.  Coaches can click into each session and view not only the drills in actions but live video showing the proper skills required to effectively perform the skill.  Terry also provides our Futures athletes with a ‘Skills from the Top’ online video subscription for all our member athletes.  The Futures curriculum is available FREE to our Futures coaches who are committed to working 4 or more sessions this year.

All coaches working in Futures must be USA Field Hockey members, sign a Coaching Contract, read the USA Field Hockey Coaching Ethics Code, and sign the USA Field Hockey Coaching Ethics Code Agreement Form prior to coaching.  

The Futures Certification Coaching Course is offered once a year in each region (larger regions may have more than one course location).  In most regions the course is offered during the first few weekends of January. The course is 6 hours.   The course reviews the “backbone” of the Futures Curriculum and stresses the skills and concepts taught in the program.  If you did not attend the course in the past year, it is highly suggested you attend this upcoming January.  Head Coaches must have their Futures Certification.  Futures Certifications must be renewed once every two years to be current.  The course is FREE to all Futures coaches.  Coaches should re-certify once every two years.  The course is open to everyone (space permitting) for a nominal fee.
