Compete for a National Title and National Team Selection

USA Field Hockey’s Men’s High Performance Training Centers provide elite-level training for male athletes that are serious about playing Field Hockey at an advanced level. Regional training sites are available offering athletes a consistent training opportunity designed to develop skills and tactics in preparation for the USA Field Hockey Men’s National Championships, June 24-29, 2008.

Athletes will be selected to represent their Region at the National Championship competition. Selections are performance based to ensure that the strongest representative team participates at the National Championships. Regional High Performance Training Center Registration is available at a cost of $50 per athlete. All athletes must be members of USA Field Hockey to register for this program.

Additionally, selected athletes will have the opportunity to be named to a USA National Team at the National Championship event.

Men's National Championship

U.S. Men's National Championship Tournament Fee: $375

  1. Travel Stipend to San Diego
    Individuals selected to represent their region at the National Championships will receive a generous travel stipend that limits their personal expenditure to the athlete tournament fee.

  2. Ground Transportation
    Each Team will have access to two mini-vans per team for transportation purposes between the tournament hotel and the competition venue.

  3. Tournament Hotel Accommodation
    Five nights at the tournament hotel, inclusive of breakfast and evening tournament highlight show.

  4. Team Uniforms
    Under Armour team uniform.

  5. Meal Stipend
    Lunch and Dinner stipend throughout the tournament as well as an invitation to attend the tournament dinner.

Men's High Performance Field Hockey

The 2008 Men’s National Championships are an opportunity to gain selection to a USA Men’s National Field Hockey Team.

Selected athletes must possess USA citizenship and be committed and dedicated to pursuing sustained International excellence at both training and competition opportunities.

The following are some of the competition opportunities available to the selected National Team athletes, additionally, extensive training camp environments will be organized to prepare for these events:

Men’s National Team:

  • February 2008: Olympic Qualifier Tournament, Auckland, New Zealand

  • March 2009: Pan American Cup, Santiago, Chile

  • 2009: World Cup Qualifying Tournament (TBD)

Men’s Junior National Team (U21):

  • August 2008: Canada Series, Moorpark, California

  • October 2008: Pan American Championships, Port of Spain, Trinidad

  • June 2009: Junior World Cup, Malaysia and Singapore

Men’s Junior Development Team (U17):

  • August 2008: Canada Series, Moorpark, California

  • November 2008: Canada Series, Vancouver, Canada

  • August 2016: Olympic Games!?
